Clasp guide

At Teeny Bead Co, we offer three different types of fastening for your jewellery available in all three metals. When we design a piece, we often choose a particular clasp type to go with the design, but because all our pieces are made to order, you can request a different clasp.

To request a different clasp, please add a note at checkout.

Regular clasps

Our regular clasps include a lobster or spring bolt clasp with the ends of the thread hidden. This is our most common clasp type.

Pros: Looks sleek — the classic jewellery finish.

Cons: Though all our pieces are fairly strong for delicate jewellery, this is the most delicate of fastenings.

Tassel clasps

The tassel clasps again include a lobster or spring bolt clasp but the end of the thread is exposed and fanned into a tassel. You can choose any of our silk thread colours, from neutrals to bright and bold.

Pros: Stronger than the regular clasps.

Cons: Some people don't like the tassel aesthetic.

Magnetic clasps

For tiny fingers or those who might struggle with a traditional clasp, we offer magnetic fastenings in all three metals. The magnet is pretty strong but will come apart when pulled — especially good to avoid injury with little ones.

Pros: Easy to open and close.

Cons: They can come apart when tugged (but this can be a pro for little ones!)
